A Tale of Threads and Love

A Tale of Threads and Love

Founder’s Story — Kavi, THREADS

My love for sarees began long before THREADS had a name.
It was born in my childhood home — surrounded by tradition, warmth, and women who wore grace as naturally as breath.

My grandmother, Papathi, was my first inspiration. I remember watching her drape her saree with quiet elegance, every fold holding a story, every pleat carrying time.

When I admired her sarees and asked,
“Papathi, can I have this one?”
she would smile warmly and say,
“Of course, Kavi ma. Sarees are meant to be passed on, not kept hidden.”

Those words stayed with me — like threads tying me to my roots.

My Mother Vijaya — The Queen of Elegance

My mother, Vijaya — my Queen of Elegance — taught me that true beauty is calm, poised, and deeply graceful. When she wore a saree, it felt alive, reflecting her dignity and strength.

As a child, I would ask her with hope,
“Amma, will you give me this saree when I grow up?”
Her gentle smile always felt like a promise — a blessing wrapped in fabric.

From her, I learned that a saree is not just worn.
It is felt.
It is lived.
It is remembered.

Where Handloom Became My Calling

Kandangi cottons, timeless Kanjeevarams, intricate borders, and handwoven textures soon became my world. But what touched me most was not only their beauty — it was the artisans behind them.

My grandmother used to say,
“A saree holds the blessings of the hands that made it. Respect the weave, and it will protect you.”

Through her, I learned that sarees speak — if we listen.

Sarees Are Not Fashion — They Are Legacy

From the women who shaped me, I learned a truth that guides my heart:
Sarees are not fashion. They are legacy.

They carry the strength of women, the silence of sacrifice, the poetry of tradition, and the promise of continuity. Every saree remembers the woman who wore it before — and waits patiently for the next.

THREADS — My Tribute to Heritage

THREADS is my tribute — to my grandmother’s wisdom, my mother’s elegance, India’s handloom heritage, and the artisans who keep tradition alive.

Every saree we curate carries memory, emotion, and meaning — woven with love for the past and intention for the future.

When you wear a saree from THREADS, you are not just wearing fabric.
You are wearing history, heritage, and ancestral grace.

With Humble & Kindness,
Kavi
